Never pay in advance to someone you have not met. Be very
suspicious of anyone asking for a deposit, a "release fee" or a
top-up card before you have seen the item.
See the item before you pay. Meet in a public, busy place in
daylight, and take somebody with you where you can.
A price far below the market is a warning, not a bargain — it
is the most common sign of a scam or of stolen goods.
Branded goods at an impossible price are usually counterfeit,
and buying them can be an offence.
Never send documents — identity papers, permits or payslips —
to a buyer or a seller.
Keep the conversation here where you can. Someone who
immediately insists on moving elsewhere is a warning sign.
